POSITION TITLE: Lead Accountant
DEPARTMENT: Accounting
REPORTS TO: Comptroller

SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for purchasing, inventory control and accounts receivable.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Lead Accountant receives and processes requests for purchase of merchandise by consulting with directors and supervisors on the specifications and need of the merchandise and receiving proper approval before placing the order. He/she uses costs effective methods and products to improve the performance of each department and negotiates with vendors for the most competitive pricing available. Maintains records of inventory, reconciles discrepancies and notifies supervisor of irregularities. He/she will help with the count of the physical inventory. He/she will be responsible for preparing sales invoices for all departments and for the reconciliation of the accounts receivable balances. Prepares daily cash receipts and ensures proper coding and allocation of all payments. This position will be cross-trained to help maintain an efficient and productive accounting department. He/she performs other duties as assigned by the Comptroller.
PREREQUISITES: Must be 21 years of age or older. Must qualify for a Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Key license. Must have 20/20 corrected vision.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) from four-year college/university or two year degree with two years related experience and/or training.
EXPERIENCE: Two year experience in an accounting field or related position preferred. Must possess excellent communication skills and be proficient with Microsoft Windows Excel and Word. He/she must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
