POSITION TITLE:        Housekeeping Manager

DEPARTMENT:            Housekeeping

REPORTS TO:               Maintenance and or Lodge Director

STARTING WAGE:      DOE

SUMMARY:

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for ensuring efficient operations of the Housekeeping Department in accordance with Grand River Casino’s standards as well as supervising the entire Housekeeping Department including rooms front/back of house public areas and laundry. Exempt associates are expected to work as much of each workday as is necessary to complete their job responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the cleanliness of the building. Will plan and oversee all housekeeping activities and staff throughout GRC. He/she will execute schedules for staff and ensure that there is coverage throughout the business at all times. They will be responsible for the hiring, training, supervising, disciplining and motivating staff as well. Will establish cleaning requirements for GRC which will also include the cabins. Also, identifying and communicating any needs for repairs to the Maintenance and Lodge staff, including the Directors. He/she will assist with the budget proposal and follow the approved budget with the guidance of the Directors. Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions. Will do all ordering of cleaning supplies or any other supplies required to keep GRC in a tidy running manner. This will include inventory as well. Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly. Will monitor appropriate vendors and monitor their performance and value of products provided. Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and objectivity. Will ensure that staff stays in compliance with all policies and procedures. Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace including anticipating preventing identifying and solving problems as necessary. Must be effective at listening to understanding clarifying and resolving the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests. Will perform all other related duties assigned by the Maintenance and/or Lodge Director. Employee shall comply with all BSA/AML regulations, reporting, and training requirements – Specifically those in the Grand River Casino Written System of Internal Controls (and appendices) for BSA/AML Compliance.

PREREQUISITES:

Must be 21 years of age or older. Must qualify for a Tribal Non-gaming license.

 

EDUCATION: 

High School or GED required. Must be able to communicate in the primary language of the workplace.

 

EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of commercial housekeeping in a hotel/casino/restaurant environment preferred. Must understand staff scheduling and be familiar with commercial cleaning supplies and equipment.

 

PHYSICAL:

Requires stamina for constant movement of walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, repetitive motions, pushing heavy equipment and must have the ability to lift forty (40) pounds frequently and up to sixty (60) pounds occasionally. Must possess the hand and finger dexterity for using tools and equipment.

Bending, pushing/pulling a heavy cart. Grasping, hand and finger dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and color acuity.
